Everything you need to know about your job at uniworks and our offering for businesses — answered concisely.
No — your application is non-binding at first, and even after signing your employment contract you are not obliged to work a minimum amount.
Your membership gives you access to countless job offers, and we are confident we will find the right one for you too. If the offers do not appeal to you, you are under no obligation. We would of course appreciate feedback on which areas we could expand into to keep you satisfied.
The process involves four simple steps:
To use the app you need an account. We usually set up your account during the intro call and send you an email with a link to set your app password. For security reasons the link is valid for about 10 minutes — if you miss it, you can request a new password any time via „Forgot password“ in the app.
We place great value on service orientation, reliability, friendliness, flexibility, resilience, motivation and commitment. Completed vocational training is not required.
Getting started at uniworks is straightforward and requires no cover letters or CVs. To employ you properly, however, we need the required documents: tax ID, a copy of your ID card/passport, a food-hygiene instruction certificate (if you are aiming for jobs in gastronomy & service or handling food) and a valid certificate of enrolment. A driver’s license is not required for the vast majority of jobs.
You always earn at least 16 euros per hour with us — no matter which jobs you take. Tips (where they arise) of course stay entirely with you. Higher hourly wages are possible through bonuses or night surcharges — pay at uniworks is fully transparent.
You always receive your wage at the beginning of the following month (by the 10th at the latest). We transfer it directly to your account.
You get free access to the WoltersKluwer payroll portal. There you will find your payslips and other wage documents you need, for example for your tax return.
As a student you may work up to 20 hours per week during the lecture period without jeopardising your so-called working-student privilege, which exempts you from paying social-security contributions. During semester breaks you may work more. Your employment at uniworks is generally fixed-term — you will be deployed a maximum of 70 days per year.
Because as a student you enter a fixed-term employment and work fewer than 70 days a year, you do not have to pay social-security contributions. You can earn up to 12,348 euros per year tax-free — and possibly more thanks to deductible expenses.
Yes, you can hold several jobs at the same time. If you have multiple short-term jobs, the total must not exceed 70 days per year. Only your main employer uses tax class 1.
In principle, a social-security number is required to start work in Germany. However, since 2023 companies have been able to request it directly from the German pension insurance’s data centre. We carry out this request when you register, so you do not need to do anything further.
Your tax identification number was sent to you by the Federal Central Tax Office (Bundeszentralamt für Steuern) by letter. If you can no longer find the letter, you can request it again at www.bzst.de.
With uniworks you can cushion short-term peaks as well as cover longer-term staffing needs. We provide temporary staff for individual shifts or for several weeks and months — from simple tasks requiring little training to qualified work such as in service.
As a rule, an assignment is possible with 24 hours’ lead time, and in individual cases (for example follow-on bookings) even more spontaneously.
uniworks was founded in Munich and is now active throughout Germany. This includes cities such as Augsburg, Berlin, Dortmund, Frankfurt am Main, Freiburg, Hamburg, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Ulm. Feel free to get in touch if your region is not listed.
None. At uniworks there are no monthly fees and no monthly minimum. You pay only for the hours actually worked by the uniworkers — or, if you cancel within 48 hours before the agreed start, for that shift.
To simplify processes and avoid unnecessary training time, we generally try to take your preferences into account. You increase the likelihood of a repeat assignment by giving us feedback on your satisfaction.
In business, short-notice changes can always happen, and you can in principle cancel any booking. Please understand that for a cancellation within 48 hours before the agreed start, the relevant shift will be invoiced regardless of whether it is used.
